Daytona 955i Black

Power in the right places, sweet 955 triple in two versions of soundtrack..... Triumph carbon or the standard exhaust. Comfortable enough to tour or commute on, yet keeps up with your mates on their uncomfortable bikes. What do the experts say? We love the Triumph Daytona 955i's syncopated rumble at tickover and theres no shortage of low down drive.

As it builds more power comes rushing and rushing until almost too soon its time to change up a gear. The Triumph Daytona's triple can never match the Japanese fours for top end power but it aces them on personality and sound. It's motorcycling aural poetry with a race can. Ride the Triumph Daytona 955i on the road and youll be hard pushed to fault it. Likewise on a race track.

But try it back to back with the lighter, more powerful Japanese competition and the Triumph Daytona 955i feels slightly crude by comparison. Still a thrilling, rapid motorcycle and plenty stable enough for uneven uk roads. Brakes are superb if in kept in good condition.

Yes, the Daytona is physically larger than its rival sportsbikes, but like the Kawasaki ZX-9R this actually makes it very appealing as a road bike. You arent cramped into a riding position that forces all your weight to rest on your wrists with the Daytona, instead its a far more relaxed stance and the triple engine has a lovely wide spread of torque, making it perfect for road riding. Not only this, it also sounds pretty amazing, especially with a fruity exhaust can fitted, and stands out from the crowds. I have the Triumph carbon exhaust and I loved the soundtrack! I did feel a little self-conscious in the village in the morning, though, so the stock exhaust is back on.

The lovely, pristine bike that went into the winter storage however, came out with the dreaded Triumph/Aprilia/Ducati/Harley plastic nylon tank syndrome however. So look at the photos. On my ST, which has the same issue, I have covered the tank with a Bagster. I have a shiny Bagster for the Daytona as well, included in the price. I would probably go after a more matt-finished one or live with the bubbles..... Drain the tank in the autumn! When dry, most of the bubbles are gone. It does irritate me that Triumph hasn't found a solution for us, but it isn't only them and it doesn't impact the usefulness of the bike itself.
